Take A Hike: 9 Miles, Farnsworth, Roche De Bout parking lot, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., It's National Take a Hike day. November on the towpath is typically filled with ducks, geese, herons and often bald eagle sightings. Be prepared for a 9 mile hike from Farnsworth to Providence Metropark. At the end of the trail, warm up in the historic Ludwig Mill and hear some local history and canal lore while you wait for the shuttle back to your vehicle.  [Register]

Family Hike, Pearson, Packer-Hammersmith Center parking lot, 12 to 1 p.m., It's National Take a Hike day! Enjoy an afternoon stroll with the whole family while on a guided nature tour with a park interpreter and experience your favorite Metroparks from new perspectives.  Please remember to bring a water bottle and dress for the weather.  [Register]

Take A Hike!, Secor, NCNP parking lot, 3:30 to 5 p.m., It's National Take a Hike day! Celebrate by exploring the quiet trails of Secor Metropark at twilight to look for wildlife preparing for winter and share seasonal highlights.  [Register]
