Celebrate Blue Week

Wild Blue Lupine is one of the signature species in the Oak Openings region and is listed in Ohio as being potentially threatened. Lupine flowers in mid-May and early June and it is an excellent nectaring source for many different species of butterflies. It is typically found in sandy, open areas where the sunlight hits the ground, however it can tolerate some shade.  You can find Lupine in Oak Openings Preserve, Wildwood Preserve and Secor Metroparks.
