2018 Annual Report

It was the year the park system completed the largest project in its history, the Howard Marsh wetland restoration near Lake Erie. The year that the Maumee became northwest Ohio’s first Water Trail, and work began on a treehouse village at Oak Openings. The year attendance at the 16 Metroparks topped 5 million visits.

Another historic accomplishment was delivered by the Lucas County voters in November—the approval of a tax levy renewal with 75 percent of the vote. It was a vote of confidence in the direction of the park system, and a commitment to provide a solid financial footing to continue transforming our region.

In this video annual report, you will hear about a year’s worth of accomplishments and a plan for the future from the president of the Board of Park Commissioners, Scott J. Savage; president of the Metroparks Toledo Foundation, Joe Napoli; executive director Dave Zenk; and several members of the staff.

There is a lot to tell in less than 6.5 minutes, but it’s only a snapshot in time. Metroparks 91st year is already well underway, with new parks and facilities in development, and exciting new experiences to Get Outside Yourself.
