Activities: For Kids By Kids

Did you know that at the time of settlement, Ohio was 95% forested? A common saying is that a squirrel could travel from the Ohio River to Lake Erie without ever having to touch the ground! A forest is a complex living system. While its appearance is often dominated by trees, a healthy forest is composed of many different animals and plants that interact with and depend on each other.

The activities below have been designed by Middle School Students participating in a Metroparks Project Based Learning Experience. Try out a few to learn more about the forests of northwest Ohio!
