Carpe Diem: Seize the Carp!
Carpe Diem: Seize the Carp!
Metroparks strives to keep our ponds and lakes in ecological harmony. One way we do this is by helping control populations of species that can have negative effects if over populated. When we stock our ponds, we use game fish such as bass, bluegill, sunfish and crappie. Sometimes however, common carp infiltrate our ponds—quickly turning them muddy and negatively affecting other recommended stock fishes. Help us keep carp populations down and recommended stock fish up!

Metroparks strives to keep our ponds and lakes in harmony. Pearson’s Lake is out of balance. An over-population of carp is having a negative impact on the health of the habitat.
Help us remove the carp — and possibly be crowned Carp King in the process. Trophies, medals, prizes (adult & youth categories). First 100 to register will receive a Carp King T-shirt. We will have loaner poles and free bait, while supplies last.
All carp caught will be donated to the Toledo Zoo for animal feed. Be part of the solution as you have a great time fishing.
