Large-scale Event Enhancements at Glass City
In response to rising visitation and increased community events at Glass City Metropark, several new measures will be implemented to better manage large-scale events and after-hours activities.
These updates are designed to ensure visitor safety, maintain a positive guest experience and support the continued growth of community programming at the popular riverfront destination.
Enhanced Staffing & Event Security:
- Additional event staffing, crowd management teams, and expanded coordination between Metroparks Rangers and the Toledo Police Department will be present during all major events or after-hours functions.
Controlled Event Zones:
- Designated event areas will feature managed entry points with managed event perimeters.
- Event areas and event perimeters will not impact park access to playgrounds and popular park amenities during normal park hours.
- Most events remain free and open to the public. Some events required a ticket to enter event zones.
Entry rules to enter Event Zones include:
- No outside food, beverages, alcohol, or coolers (food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase inside the event zones)
- After-hours functions (extending beyond or beginning after 8:30 p.m.) require all attendees to be 18+ or accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Designated Special Event Park Entrance:
- All vehicular traffic will be directed to one primary special event entrance for major events or after-hours functions.
- Primary Special Event Entrance: 1505 Front St., between Market Hall/TheRibbon and the National Museum of the Great Lakes.
- During Special Event Dates, Metroparks Rangers will greet vehicles at the entrance and guide them to managed parking areas.
Designated Special Event Park Exit:
- All vehicular traffic will exit at Front St. and Broadway via the traffic light, under the direction of Metroparks Rangers.
- Metroparks Toledo Rangers will manage exit traffic at the conclusion of each major event or after-hours function for a coordinated and quicker exit from the park.
Parking & Overflow Plan:
In-park parking will be used in sequence until full. Once capacity is reached, vehicular access will close, but walk-in guests may still enter.
- Overflow parking is available across Main Street at Glass City Upriver (formerly International Park).
- Select events may offer shuttle service from overflow lots, but not all.
