Manor House Nominated for USA Today 10Best Award
The Wildwood Manor House and Graceland are vying for the No. 1 spot in a USA Today 10Best contest to select the nation’s best historic home tours. Twenty historic homes across the country are nominated.
The Manor House was originally called Stranleigh when it was the family home of Champion Spark Plug co-founder Robert Stranahan. Metroparks acquired the Stranahan estate, including the house, when a citizens campaign in 1973 led to passage of a tax levy by Lucas County voters.
Every year since then, volunteers have decorated the historic home for the holidays and invited the public for free tours as a way of saying thank you for their support. This year’s Holidays at the Manor House will open December 7 and continue through December 15, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
