These are no ordinary “stay-cations.” Venture out with Metroparks Outdoor Skills Specialists for this exclusive outdoor experience. Each trip is packed with our favorite spots and our favorite activities--all for your private group. With exclusive access to some lesser known spots and a naturalist to show you the way, Metroparks memories are guaranteed.

Overnight Experiences 

Bike Trip, 2 Nights, 2 Parks, 2 Future Parks
Wildwood Preserve
August 19 to 21, 4 p.m. to Noon

Make a personal connection with the outdoors as our bike and tree climbing specialist, Jake Willing, takes you on a three day tour through Wildwood Preserve, Swan Creek Preserve, and an inside look at the future Brookwood and Keil Farms Metroparks. Adventure abounds during this journey as you experience your Metroparks both present and future from the seat of your bike, stroke of your paddle, and tree top vista. All you need to bring is a reusable water bottle, your bike, and your personal items. We will bring everything else. 

What’s Included: 

  • Guided road riding trip to Wildwood Preserve, Swan Creek Preserve, and exclusive tours of future Brookwood and Keil Farms Metroparks
  • All meals prepared or cooked by our campfire cooking experts
  • Private tree climbing and hammocking at height dinner and exclusive Swan Creek kayaking experiences
  • Exclusive camping at Wildwood Preserve Metropark overlook and Swan Creek Preserve Metropark gazebo overlook
  • Support vehicle to move gear and food
  • All associated camping gear: tent, sleeping bags, sleep pads, camp kitchen, etc.

Fee: $800 for the first two people, additional $50 per person up to six people total in your group. Some helmets are available to borrow. Helmets are required while riding on this program. Hammock Camping and Sunset Kayak Experience
Howard Marsh
September 19 and 20, 5 p.m. to 10 a.m.

Join outdoor enthusiast Alissa Caple to for a unique experience at the beautifully restored Howard Marsh Metropark. Kayak among swaying cattails and singing birds at sunset. Then settle into a hammock to watch the stars across the night sky. All you need to bring is a reusable water bottle and your personal items. We will bring everything else. 

What’s Included: 

  • Private sunset kayaking experience on the marsh
  • Dinner and breakfast cooked by our campfire cooking experts
  • Exclusive camping under the stars at Howard Marsh Metropark
  • All associated camping gear: sleeping bags, sleep pads, hammock with stand, camp kitchen, etc.,

Fee: $250 covers registration for two people, $240 for Metroparks Members, +$20 per additional person up to 6 people total, ages 12+. Tree Tent Camping and Hammocking at Height Experience
Oak Openings Preserve Metropark, Mallard Lake parking lot
September 26 and 27, 5 p.m. to 10 a.m.

This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Hammocking guru, Alissa Caple, is teaming up with our tree climbing expert, Jake Willing, to bring you an amazing experience of hammocking in the tree tops at Oak Openings Preserve Metropark. But wait, there’s more! Dinner will be served in the canopy where you can relax and eat your meal amongst the leaves! 

After your feast among the trees, hike out to The Spot—an incredible and unique stand of red pines that was made famous by hundreds of Instagram posts. There we will have an exclusive campsite set for you—two Tentsile tree tents. 

All you need to bring is a reusable water bottle and your personal items. We will bring everything else.

Camping 101 Trips

Camping 101: Swan Creek Night Hike and Overlook Tent Camping
Swan Creek Preserve, Airport Hwy. parking lot
September 5, 5 p.m. to September 6, 10 a.m.

Check out Swan Creek and get exclusive camping access to the new Swan Creek Gazebo with naturalist Kim Kaseman. She will walk you through the basics of camping and will take you on an amazing night hike that you won’t forget! 

Camping gear available to borrow. Participants are responsible to bring all their own food and personal items. 

Fee: $150 covers registration for the maximum of 4 people, or $140 for Metroparks Members, all ages.

Camping 101: Night Mountain Biking and Tent Camping
Oak Openings Preserve, Beach Ridge Area parking lot
September 18 and 19, 5 p.m. to 10 a.m.

Ride the Beach Ridge Singletrack Mountain Bike Trails after dark with our Bike Specialist, Jake Willing. After dinner, enjoy the quiet of the Springbrook campsites where Jake will take you through the basics of camping.  

No bike? No problem. A night hike in the Oak Openings will be sure to be the highlight of your trip! 

Camping gear available to borrow. Participants will need to bring their own mountain bike*, helmet (required), food and personal items.  

Fee: $150 covers registration for the maximum of 4 people, or $140 for Metroparks Members, ages 8+ for biking trip, all ages for night hike.

Camping 101: Wildwood Night Hike and Overlook Tent Camping
Wildwood Preserve, Ward Pavilion parking lot (East Entrance)
September 25 and 26, 5 p.m. to 10 a.m.

Naturalist Amanda Domalski is going to take you to a hidden gem of Wildwood Metropark where she will help you through the basics of camping. Set up camp, make dinner, and venture out with her on a night hike that will heighten your senses!
