May 6, Overnight
Introduction to Bicycle Camping
Ever dream of going on a bike trip but not sure how or where to start? Here is your opportunity to camp out and explore different Metroparks in a whole new way on this overnight bike trip.
The bike trip will begin at Secor Metropark, travel 38.5 miles and end the next day at the same parking lot just in time for lunch. The trip will consist of 19 miles the first day and 20 miles the second day. All cyclist and camping levels are welcome to this beginner's cycling trip program.
One tent spot at a group campsite, certain bike gear (courtesy of Toledo Mountain Mentors), certain camping gear and a guide fee will be included in the registration fee. Food is not included.
The ride will include a stop at the new single track trail located at the Springbrook parking lot in Oak Openings.
All participants are required to attend a pre-trip information session on Wednesday, May 3 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Secor Metropark.
Oak Openings Singletrack Trail Opening
The first 5 miles of a new singletrack mountain bike trail at Oak Openings Preserve in Swanton opens to the public Sunday, May 7. The trailhead is at the Springbrook Area of the park, on SR64 at the Wabash-Cannonball Trail. Additional parking lots are available in Oak Openings. About the new trail

Mountain Biking 101
Learn the basics of off-road cycling and gain the skills and confidence required to ride the tougher sections the new Oak Openings Singletrack Trail. Presented by Spoke Life Cycles. Sessions for children and adults will be held each month in May, June, July, August and September.

Outdoor Adventure Expo
Outdoor adventure comes in all shapes and sizes. At the Expo, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Side Cut Metropark in Maumee, you have the opportunity to "try on" adventure activities to see what fits. Ride Your Bike - May is Bike Month: at the Expo, you'll meet area cycling clubs and businesses, and learn about Metroparks cycling programs, trails and other amenities. Monitored bicycle parking will be available, so ride your own bike. More about the Expo
May 28, 9 p.m.
Cycle Circle, Glow Roll: 5 miles (All Ages)
Light up the night on a 5-mile, naturalist-led, ride through Swan Creek Preserve starting at 9 p.m. Check out the night sky and listen for the calls of the night. Bring your bike, bike lights or reflective gear, water bottle, helmet (required), bug spray and friends for an evening in the parks. Dress for the weather. Registration required.
May 16, 23, 30 and June 6
Introduction to Group Cycling
A four-part series presented by Toledo Area Bicyclists (Adults)
In this four-week clinic, Toledo Area Bicyclists (TAB) and Metroparks team up to introduce intermediate cyclists to the basics of group cycling—a fun, safe, social way to ride. Sessions begin at Secor Metropark photography center at 6:30 p.m.
Each session features 10 to 15 minutes of instruction followed by a 16 to 20 mile practice ride that is small chain ring, no drop, and at an average 14-16 mph. Sessions culminate with group discussions of the rides.
If you are an intermediate rider new to group cycling or looking to brush up on group riding skills, this clinic is for you.
Road bikes are highly recommended; helmets are mandatory. This is a 4 week session that meets May 16, 23, 30 and June 6. Please register for the first session on May 16.
