The Oak Openings Green Ribbon Initiative’s Science Summit, is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Nederhouser Community Hall at Olander Park. Please join us to learn more about the science of Oak Openings conservation and stewardship. Click Here to download the flyer.

The Science Summit will include four presentations and a poster session, as well as networking opportunities with researchers, students and land managers with an overall goal of increasing connections among regional stakeholders.

Presentations are:

  • A closer look at reptile and small mammal communities in the Oak Openings using AHDriFT camera traps, Jay Wright, Metroparks Toledo
  • Harmful algal bloom prevention through wetland restoration at Oak Openings Preserve Metropark, Lucy Busselle, BGSU
  • Capturing Ohio’s bee diversity by surveying the host plants of diet specialists, Amber Fredenburg, OSU
  • Avian response to experimental cattle grazing in Oak Openings Preserve Metropark, Mark Shieldcastle, BSBO
