Metroparks Toledo has partnered with Maumee River Kayaking to expand kayak rental service Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day.

Farnsworth Concession Hours of Operation

Memorial Day Weekend through Sunday, August 13, Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. closed Mondays.
August 19 through Labor Day, Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed Monday through Friday.

Rental Rates

Float Around (hourly rate): $15 single | $25 tandem
Day Rental: $40 single | $50 tandem
Downriver Trip: $35 per person

Reservations

Reservations require a50% deposit – any cancellations and/or adjustments to the reservation must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Inclement weather is the only exception.
Please be at the site within 15 minutes of the reservation or kayak rentals cannot be guaranteed.
Reservations are not required to rent Kayaks at the Farnsworth Kayak Concession – walk-up kayak rentals will be available on a first come, first served basis

Know-Before-You-Go

Kayak Rentals will close when the river levels are too high, or too low.
Transportation is included in the Downriver Trip rental fee (Farnsworth to Side Cut Metropark). Transportation is not offered for downriver trips using personal kayaks, only on rental trips.
Paddles and lifejackets are provided with all rentals.
Credit Card and ID required on file for all rentals.
All renters must sign a waiver in advance.
Kayaks are only rented to adults 18 and older.
No coolers will be permitted.
Pets are not permitted.
You must be 12 and older for a single kayak and be with an adult.
Tandem kayaks must have one adult 18 and up.
Kayak Sizes/Weight Capacities Offered:
- Single Kayak 11-1/2 foot in length and have a weight capacity of 350 lbs.
- Single Kayak 9-1/2 foot in length and have a weight capacity of 300 lbs.
- Tandem Kayaks have a weight capacity of 500 lbs.

Getting to the Facility: The concession is located at the Boat Launch entrance to the park on 8801 S. River Road (US24), Waterville, at a new launch site adjacent to the playground.

Features and Amenities—Farnsworth Kayak Concession

Additional Information: Water Conditions: 0 to 2.5 feet only trips around the island; 2 to 4 feet trips will be around the island or downstream to Side Cut; 4 to 6 feet trips will only be around the islands at Farnsworth; Water conditions above 6 feet, winds over 20 mph the kayak concession will be closed. Kids under the weight of 40 pounds must bring their own life vest. Maumee River Kayaking reserves the right to alter trip plans based on current water conditions. For your safety, Maumee River Kayaking will not rent a kayak to a solo paddler. Coolers are not permitted.
