Farnsworth Kayak Concession
Kayak Rentals will close when the river levels are too high, or too low.
Kayak Concession is open on weekends, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and holidays Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Downriver kayak trips, Farnsworth to Side Cut Metroparks, $25 per person. Transportation back to Farnworth is included in the rental fee. Not using Metroparks kayaks but you're kayaking from Farnsworth to Side Cut, return transportation runs on a 45-minute to an hour schedule for pick-ups. The fee is $10 per person. Please note:
- Kayaks are only rented to adults 18 and older.
- No coolers or backpacks will be permitted.
- Kayaking on the Maumee River you must be 12 and older for a single kayak and be with an adult.
- Tandem kayaks must have one adult 18 and up.
- No Advanced Reservations Available.
- Kayaks are on a first come, first serve basis.
Kayak Sizes/Weight Capacity
- Single Kayak 11-1/2 foot in length and have a weight capacity of 350 lbs.
- Single Kayak 9-1/2 foot in length and have a weight capacity of 300 lbs.
- Tandem Kayaks have a weight capacity of 500 lbs.

Getting to the Facility: The concession is located at the Boat Launch entrance to the park on 8801 S. River Road (US24), Waterville, at a new launch site adjacent to the playground.
Price: (Credit card payments only) Single Kayak, $15 per hour Tandem Kayak, $20 per hour Kayak Season Passes, $125 (single kayak) Valid now through Labor Day. Additional Information: Water Conditions: 0 to 2.5 feet only trips around the island; 2 to 4 feet trips will be around the island or downstream to Side Cut; 4 to 6 feet trips will only be around the islands at Farnsworth; Water conditions above 6 feet, winds over 20 mph the kayak concession will be closed. Kids under the weight of 40 pounds must bring their own life vest. Metroparks Toledo reserves the right to alter trip plans based on current water conditions. For your safety, Kayak Concessions will not rent a kayak to a solo paddler. Coolers or backpacks are not permitted.
