This object is significant to me because it is me! As a teenager growing up in the Glass City I was given access to a wide variety of artistic avenues. I gravitated toward ceramics and one of my first projects was creating these facial sculptures. This one survived and my daughter and I decided that this piece from 1993 was the one I should bring. This piece relates to the history of Toledo because I was taught by a local teacher and the clay came from local ground. It represents all that art has done for myself, my children, my loved ones and hopefully even local history.
