Upon graduation from The Ohio State University, Glenn D. Pocock began his career as a mechanical glass engineer at the Libbey Owens Ford Technical Center where he would meet his future wife Molly Jean Hulce. Prior to his retirement from Custom Deco Inc., Glenn created this piece which won first place at the Society of Glass and Ceramic Decorators (SGCDpro) annual show in San Diego. The awards featured 223 entries in 30 design and 9 technical categories. This earned the 2000 Discovery Awards for Outstanding Glass & Ceramic Decorating in the category Food Service, Formal, Glass for Custom Deco, Inc. titled Cobalt blue goblet with acid resist design on glass. At this same time, Glenn, in conjunction with Custom Deco Inc., would be granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on the acid etching machine which would transform the bottle and glass decorating industry.
