Combat Air Service medals. My father Paul J. Smith earned these medals as a Marine. He served the South Pacific - Bougainville of the Solomon Islands - in an SBD Dauntless Dive Bomber as a Gunner. He learned radio skills from his dad, Forrest Smith, who worked at Western Union.
