My grandfather, Lawrence "Skeg" Beckert was hired in Toledo, Ohio by Michael Owens as his secretary. He moved up in the company and relocated to Alton, IL where he worked at the newly acquired Owens-Illinois glass company. My father, Larry Beckert, grew up in Alton and started his career sweeping the floors in the Alton glass plant and spend over 40 years working for Owens-Illinois in the international division. I, Julie Beckert, have worked at Owens-Illinois for seven years as a marketing specialist.
