Food Waste Composting Programs

Food Waste Composting Kick-Off Program
Sunday, November 12, 2 to 4 p.m.
Reservations Required, Free

It is estimated that 63 million tons of food is wasted each year in the US. This is 40% of our food, making it the single largest type of waste in our everyday trash!

Help create a greener future by composting your food waste at one of the new free food waste drop-off sites located throughout the city, including Swan Creek Preserve Metropark. City of Toledo residents are invited to stop by anytime during this 2-hour event to learn what can and cannot be placed in the bins, how composting benefits our environment, and where the collection bins at Swan Creek Preserve Metropark are located. Register to receive a free compost collection bucket to take home (one bucket per household; limited to the first 25 households registered).

The food waste drop-off sites were created by the City of Toledo in partnership with GoZERO, Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful and Metroparks Toledo.
