Become friends with the forest and bond with your little ones (ages 0-3) with this unique Caretaker and Me Forest Therapy experience led by an Association of Nature & Forest Therapy (ANFT)-certified guide. This heart-centered forest therapy experience is created for caretakers and children to grow closer to the More-than-human world, each other, and themselves. The program includes invitations to spend time alone together in nature, sharing circles to reflect, and a final gathering ceremony with child-friendly tea or snacks. Whether you are an experienced angler or trying fishing for the first time, we invite you to reel in Metroparks memories at this youth fishing event. During this event, anglers will be encouraged to take home what they catch. State limits still apply. Even if you don't keep what you catch, we will be transporting bluegill to other Metroparks ponds in an effort to manage their population.
Please bring a cooler of ice if you plan on taking fish home.

Backpacking 201: Oak Openings Trek (15.3 Miles, Ages 18 and up)

Escape into nature for an overnight retreat and explore the incredible variety of habitats protected within Oak Openings Preserve Metropark. View forests, savannas, and prairies in their autumn splendor as you backpack 15.3 miles over two days. At night, learn the tips and tricks for camping on the trail.
Attendance at the pre-trip informational meeting is required (Thursday, October 2nd, 6:30-8PM, Oak Openings Lodge). We will check and fit gear, talk about the trip, and answer any questions.
This hike takes place on a primitive dirt trail with roots, some elevation changes, and uneven terrain. Some backpacking or distance hiking experience recommended.

Join us for a fun and engaging Caretaker and Me Animal Yoga class where little ones (ages 3-5) can explore yoga movements inspired by the way animals move! This interactive class is a great way for kids and their caretakers to bond while moving and grooving together. Register children only.
