Frequently Asked Questions

We will make every attempt to have The Ribbon open every day. In the case of a heavy snowstorm or heavy rain, we may have to have a delayed open or need to close The Ribbon if conditions are unsafe. In the case of delays or closures we will notify all guests at least one hour prior to your scheduled skating session if that session has been cancelled. If your session is cancelled you can reschedule your reservation for another date and time.

The Ribbon is located at Glass City Metropark. Use the Market Hall entrance at 1505 Front Street, Toledo, OH 43605.

There is a large surface lot located at Market Hall next to The Ribbon. If this parking lot is full, we recommend parking at the other surface lots at Glass City Metropark or near the Glass City Marina.

We will offer hockey skates (sizes Youth 10 through Adult 13) and figure skates (sizes Youth 8 through Adult 13). We recommend using 1 size down for Men and 2 sizes down for Women. 

This is an outdoor winter skating experience. Please dress warm and we highly recommend wearing hats and gloves. All skaters must have socks and it is recommended to wear multiple pairs or one pair of thick, warm socks.

Admission is $10 (ages 13+) or $8 (ages 3-12 or 65+) and it includes both admission and skate rental. Guests may choose to bring their own skates but admission is still required. Penguin skate trainers are also available to rent for $5. 

Yes! Groups of 15 or more can reserve tickets together for $8 each.

We accept Cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We do not accept checks.

To request a private rental of The Ribbon, please fill out the Special Event Form and select “Private Ice Skating Ribbon or Roller Skating Ribbon Event” with details about your event.

You can use our coin-operated lockers at Market Hall to store your items safely while you skate. Metroparks Toledo is not responsible for any lost or stolen items if they are stored in locations other than the storage lockers at Market Hall.

For your convenience, there is a change machine available at Market Hall. The change machine accepts cash only. 

Yes! The Garden by Poco Piatti is a year-round fast casual restaurant inside Market Hall offering a variety of food and drink options, including winter favorites like Hot Chocolate! If you have a cabana rental or group outing, plan ahead by ordering food and beverages in advance online.

The Garden offers a family friendly menu of pizzas, wraps, bowls, desserts and offers full bar service. If you have questions about the catering packages, and food and beverage menus please contact The Garden by Poco Piatti at pocopiattiparty@gmail.com There is NO outside food or beverage permitted at Cabana Village or Market Hall

Every skater must put on a wristband waiving liability before taking the ice.

Wristband language reads as: Assumption of Risk and Release. I am aware that ice skating involves inherent risks, dangers and hazards which can result in serious personal injury or death. I hereby freely assume and accept any and all known and unknown risks of injury while skating at this ice rink and release owner, its management company, sponsors, their affiliates, subsidiaries, successors and assigns from any liability whatsoever for bodily injury or property damage resulting from any negligent acts and omissions in the design, operation, supervision and maintenance of the ice rink. By wearing this wristband, I am agreeing to be bound by its terms

No. Only guests who are ice skating will need to make a reservation. Those who are not ice skating can enjoy the park.

All skating sessions are 90 minutes. We highly recommend arriving up to 30 minutes prior to your scheduled skating session to maximize your ice time. You can also arrive anytime during your session. 

Yes! Wheelchairs are allowed on The Ribbon. We also have three adaptive sleds available for those with mobility disabilities. The sleds are complimentary and available on a first come, first served basis courtesy of The Ability Center of Greater Toledo and Metroparks Toledo Foundation. 

The Zamboni will typically resurface the ice every 90 minutes (weather depending) and will take about 30 minutes to complete. We will run the Zamboni during session breaks. 

Cabana Rentals include ice skating admission and skate rentals for up to 10 people. We do allow a max capacity of up to 15 people per cabana, but if you’re group is larger than 15 you can reserve multiple cabanas. If all 15 guests are skating you’ll need to reserve additional skate reservations.
