Paddling Safety Kits
Try canoeing, kayaking, or stand up paddleboarding with short, beginner-friendly 1 hour try-it sessions. Expand your skills with classes, or enjoy unique paddling opportunities in your Metroparks with history paddles, evening and sunset paddles, and river paddles available at many of our river parks. All boats, lifejackets, paddles, and paddling safety gear are provided on all paddles. Adaptive paddling gear is available by request at any paddle.
Staff carry safety gear on the water to be prepared for all situations. This includes first aid and a repair kit for all paddles. For kayak paddles staff also carry a kayak safety kit consisting of a tow belt for assisting paddlers that need aid, a bilge pump for removing water from kayaks, and a paddle float and sling for assisting paddlers in a capsize that need aid. For canoe paddles staff carry a canoe safety kit consisting of a tow belt for assisting paddlers that need aid, a bailer for removing water from canoes, and a sling for assisting paddlers in a capsize that need aid.
