The Upland Woods Trail takes walkers through lower, wet woodland before leading to the upland forests that grow from remnants of sandy glacial beaches and dunes formed over 10,000 years ago. Along this trail, towering tulip trees, bitternut hickory, sassafras and white oak are accompanied by an understory of witch hazel, flowering dogwood and spicebush. In the lower sections, look for trees with buttressing trunks - wide, spreading bases that provide added support in wet soils.
Parking for this trail can be found at Meadowview Area and the Secor Center parking lots.
