Wildwood Floodplain Trail

The Floodplain Trail includes the Lusk/Mewborn boardwalk along the Ottawa River. Floodplain trees adapted for moist areas, such as buckeyes, cottonwoods and sycamores, dominate the floodplain, which continually changes as floodwaters reshape the landscape.

Animal tracks can often be seen in the river mud, while animals, including screech owls and raccoons, make use of cavities in the huge floodplain trees.
