Wildwood Floodplain Trail

The Floodplain Trail along the Ottawa River includes the Lusk/Mewborn boardwalk, which offers visitors a remarkable view of the natural process of flooding after heavy rains and snow melt.

Animal tracks can often be seen in the river mud, while animals, including screech owls and raccoons, make use of cavities in the huge floodplain trees.

Floodplain trees such as buckeyes, cottonwoods and sycamores dominate the area and are well adapted to the dynamic fluctuation of floodwaters that continually reshape the landscape.

This trail is partially accessible. See the interactive map for more details.

Parking for this trail can be found at any of the parking lots at Wildwood Preserve.
