The Meadow Loop Trail leads through meadows that are bountiful sources of food for seed eaters such as birds and mice, and for predators such as fox, owls and hawks. Little bluestem grass, lupine, and sweet fern grow on the higher, drier areas, while Joe-pye-weed, gray dogwood and sensitive fern abound in the moist areas. Wildlife is most often seen along the edges, where the meadow overlaps the thickets.
