Scouts Help Out on a Snowy Spring Saturday
On a snowy spring morning, April 10, scouts turned out to help with three separate projects in three Metroparks.
Duck Boxes Installed At Side Cut
Eagle Scout candidate Brady Spears built three mallard cylinders and eight wood duck boxes, using guidelines/specifications from the Ohio DNR. Brady installed the boxes at Side Cut recently with the help of his scoutmaster, two assistant scoutmasters, six other scouts and two members of the park staff.
Six of the wood duck boxes and two mallard cylinders were placed at Seigert Lake, while two wood duck boxes plus and a mallard cylinder were placed near the green trail that circles the duck pond.

Two Scenic Overlooks Replaced at Wildwood
Eagle Scout candidate Cole Musch and his troop started removing railings and decking from the two overlooks on the Red Trail at Wildwood Preserve. The scouts are installing new decking and Wildwood staff will install new railings. The trail remains open during construction, and the scouts will return this weekend.
The decking and railings are being purchased with funds donated in memory of cross-country coach George Peuhl.
Scouts Help Out at the Ludwig Mill
Boy Scouts from Troop 117 in Toledo came out to the Isaac Ludwig Mill at Providence Metropark to lend a hand during a volunteer work day.
