Time: 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with Skate for Sammy Mo Fundraiser continuing until 9 p.m.

Celebrate the life and legacy of Sammy Mo Molnar at a one-of-a-kind hockey showcase, hosted in his memory at The Ribbon at Glass City Metropark. This unique 6U hockey showcase supports the Sammy Mo Molnar Gift Ribbon Program, helping to make skating at The Ribbon accessible for all in Lucas County.
Hockey Showcase Highlights
- 10 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. Sammy Mo 6U Hockey Showcase at the Ponk rink area
- 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Toledo Ice Crew Scrimmage at The Pond rink area
- The Garden by Poco Piatti: Enjoy a delicious family-friendly menu, from pizza to s’mores with warm drinks like Hot Chocolate.
- Tournament Viewing: Watch the action from along The Ribbon, or indoors at Market Hall.
Skate for Sammy at The Ribbon ice skating trail
The Ribbon ice skating trail will be open for public skating all day, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the Sammy Mo Molnar 6UHockey Showcase from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., The Pond rink area will be closed to public skating, while The Ribbon ice trail will remain open.
Normal ice skating operations on both The Ribbon and The Pond will resume after 2:30 p.m.
All proceeds from ice skating on Sunday, March 9 during the Sammy Mo Showcase will benefit the Sammy Mo Molnar Gift Ribbon Fund.
Sammy Mo’s Story
Sammy's passion for hockey and skating brought joy and connection to all who knew him. His journey—from determined mini-mite skater to high school and travel hockey champion—was a testament to his spirit, grit, and love for the sport. Additionally, his welcoming smile and heart-warming laugh allowed him to become friends with anyone he met. Sammy cared so much about all people and wanted nothing more for all to be happy.
Since the opening of The Ribbon, Sammy brought all of these passions together, along with creating precious memories skating with his mom, Jill.
In his memory, the Sammy Mo Molnar Gift Ribbon Program ensures all Lucas County residents can share in that joy, breaking down barriers for families to experience the magic of skating.
