Providence Wolf Rapids

The Wolf Rapids Trail parallels the Towpath Trail in the bottomland just downstream from Providence Dam. In late winter, it is often submerged and the river deposits rich soil and mounds of driftwood. It crosses the canal on a rustic, arching bridge and returns you to the trailhead at the Dam Area parking lot. There is a flight of stairs from the top of the Towpath down to the flood plain.
