Kids Can Fish for Trout at Pearson Saturday

Bring the kids to Pearson Metropark for a rare fishing opportunity this weekend – the chance to catch rainbow trout close to home.

The Ohio Division of Wildlife will stock rainbow trout in Pearson Lake just in time for the holiday weekend. Saturday, April 15, will be reserved for kids under 16. After that, all ages are welcome to fish.

The daily catch limit for inland lakes is five trout.

All state licensing and other fishing regulations apply. Kids under 16 do not need a license.

Just over 100,000 rainbow trout are being released this spring at 64 Ohio public lakes and ponds.

Fishing for catchable-sized trout is a great way to introduce young people to the outdoors.

Rainbow trout are raised at state fish hatcheries and measure 10-13 inches before they are released by the ODNR Division of Wildlife.
