Tree Climbing Equipment
Explore the tree-tops and enjoy a new view of your Metroparks at beginner-friendly try-it programs, relax with hammocking at height programs, or make unique memories during guided canopy tours, night climbs, overnight snoozes at height, and more! Adaptive tree climbing gear is available by request at all tree climbing programs, but certain climbing trees are more accessible than others. Our tree climbing programs utilize a double rope technique climbing system with a Blake's hitch and a prusik knot to advance up the rope. Saddles (harnesses) are available in a range of sizes from child up to adult, with a maximum waist measurement of 45" and a maximum thigh circumference of 29". Maximum weight is not a concern; all of our tree climbing gear can support a minimum of 5,000 lbs. Helmets are available in multiple sizes and are adjustable, fitting head circumferences of 18.9-24 inches. Climbing gloves are available in sizes youth to adult extra-large and fit most hand sizes.
